The history no longer appears in my MacBook, but are in my other devices. I noticed it did not delete the messages on my phone and so I used airplane mode and went to my desktop to back up the iphone (in case messages synchs and deleted all files everywhere- it didn't). I NEED access this history with this contact regularly and it also has lots of important (legally binding) communication and details about schedules, etc. I realized I never clicked in the window for the file manager when I returned, and I deleted a really important conversation. I heard the trash sound, but then the file, a screenshot, I was trying to delete was still there. After reading a text that came in, I toggled to view it using short-cut keys and clicked in the message then toggled back to the other open window and hit command-delete. I was working texting and moving some files around.
